Slip Testing Worcestershire

Where floors fail

Slips aren’t random — they cluster in the same places. Knowing the hotspots tells you where to look, and where a test is worth doing first.

Entrances and lobbies

Rain walks in on shoes and wheels, and smooth, polished entrance tiles are among the most-claimed-on surfaces anywhere. Long matting runs and a wet-weather plan matter here.

Kitchens and food areas

Grease and water together defeat many floors that pass when dry. Commercial kitchens almost always need a genuinely slip-resistant surface, kept properly clean.

Wet rooms, bathrooms and pool surrounds

Constant water and bare feet are the hardest test of all, and call for the right surface tested with the barefoot slider, not the shod one.

Ramps, steps and level changes

Any slope or transition raises slip and trip risk, and small changes of level are easy to miss until someone goes over.

Back-of-house and wash-downs

Stockrooms, cellars, plant rooms and wash-down areas get little attention and a lot of water — a frequent source of staff injuries.

Newly cleaned or treated floors

The wrong detergent, too much polish or a film of residue can make a sound floor slippery. A change in your cleaning product is a good reason to re-check.

A warning sign worth acting on

If you’ve had even one slip or near-miss in an area, treat it as the floor telling you something. That’s the point to measure it rather than wait for the next one.
